A trial lesson (often free or half price) shows more than any credentials. Ask about experience with your exact goal: exam prep and 'catching up in 7th grade' are different skills.

For languages and programming, online is just as good; for younger schoolkids, in-person holds attention better. Online saves the commute and widens your choice to the whole country.

A student tutor is cheaper, an experienced exam-prep teacher costs more, a native speaker most of all. Packages of 8–10 lessons usually cut the hourly rate by 10–20%.

Individually, progress is about twice as fast, but pricier: roughly 300–800 hryvnias per hour versus 150–350 in a group. The working scheme: start individual to set the base, then a group for practice. For conversational language a group is even better — more people to talk to.

Honest math: bringing a school subject up to solid level — 2–3 months at 2 lessons a week. Exam prep — a school year. A language from zero to solid A2 — 6–9 months of regular lessons. 'English in a month' promises are marketing, not methodology.

For a license the school is mandatory — it admits you to the exam. A private instructor adds driving hours on your or their car, typically 400–700 hryvnias per lesson. The most effective combo: the school's required minimum plus 10–15 extra hours with a private instructor on a car with your transmission type.
