The used furniture market is the fastest way to furnish a home: what costs a month's salary in a showroom and ships in 6 weeks is available today at a third of the price. The flow comes from moves, interior updates and relocations, so condition often sits closer to new than used. Solid wood and old-school hardwood furniture outlive any chipboard — and cost pocket change second-hand.
When selling furniture, put dimensions in centimeters in the first line — it's question number one. Photos in the interior by daylight, plus close-ups of hardware, mechanisms and defects. Say whether it disassembles and whether fittings survive: 'disassembled, hardware bagged, manual included' is the sentence that sells a wardrobe in a day. The cost of disassembly and carrying downstairs is your ace in negotiation.

What do I check when buying a used sofa?
The fold-out mechanism (open and close it yourself), springs for sagging, the frame for creaks. Smell it: damp or pet odors don't come out. Ask for photos without covers.
How do I transport large furniture?
Most cabinet furniture disassembles — ask if the hardware and instructions survived. A cargo taxi with a mover is affordable; a sliding wardrobe won't leave without disassembly.
Used IKEA: worth it?
Yes, the frames last. Check that fastener holes aren't stripped from the previous assembly; lost parts can be bought separately by model name.
What does a good used sofa actually cost?
Working sofas without stains or smells start at 3–6 thousand hryvnias; nearly new pieces from known factories run 8–15 thousand against 25–40 new. The real price fork is mechanism and fabric: a spring-block eurobook outlives a cheap click-clack threefold.
A used mattress: yes or no?
The one furniture item we recommend buying only new or in perfect condition from a trusted seller: mattress hygiene can't be verified visually. Exceptions — toppers and mattresses with removable washable covers, after dry cleaning.
A used kitchen: how do I know it will fit my space?
Almost impossible without cutting: kitchens are built for specific walls. What genuinely transfers: straight runs without corners and modular systems (IKEA Metod), which can be reconfigured. Ask for a diagram with each module's dimensions and check against your wall to the centimeter.
