Photos, price and description are three parts of a listing worth preparing carefully. Let’s go through each.

Illustration for the guide: How to sell a used item faster: photos, price, description

Show the item in your photos

Take your own photos in daylight against a neutral background. Show the whole item, different angles, what is included and close-ups of known defects. Choose enough photos to show its condition clearly.

Use your own photographs of the item and follow the posting rules.

A title people actually find

Include the item type, brand, model and relevant specifications. For example: “iPhone 13 128GB, battery 89%”. Only include details that are true of your item.

Avoid ALL CAPS, repeated “URGENT” labels and rows of emoji. Keep the title clear and specific.

A fair price with room to negotiate

Compare similar active listings in your city, considering condition, included accessories and collection terms. An asking price is not evidence of the price paid in a completed sale.

Decide whether you are willing to negotiate and set the minimum amount you would accept.

A description that sells

Describe the condition, known defects, included items, reason for selling and inspection or delivery arrangements. Answer the basic questions about the item.

Describe known defects and show them in photos so buyers can assess the condition before meeting.

Response speed

Check the chat and answer questions about condition, price and collection. Check your account notification settings and the browser’s notification permission.

If there are no messages, check the listing’s visibility and status, category, city, photos, description and price. Compare it with similar items and revise the offer if needed.
